2nd Blog Birthday

Yesterday was my blog birthday.

I'm having a contest!

Leave a comment, tell your friends to leave a comment, everyone leave a comment- even if it's just to say, "Hi!" and I'll pick one person from the list (all seven of you, lol!) to win a fabulous "Shut Up and Knit" mug.

Contest runs until April 19th at noon, EST.

I also have bad news about my wrist. I cheated yesterday and knit for about 30 minutes (first time cheating, I swear). All afternoon it bugged me and this morning it's really, really sore. So I'm going to see a specialist sometime in the near future.

The first few days of not knitting were awful. Seriously- awful. Now that I've had time to do other things- cleaning, organizing and reading- I know that it's not a bad thing to take a break once in awhile.

And one last thing- a story.

So at the gym there's a sign in sheet for the women's exercise room. I have no idea why, but I diligently sign in every time.

Thursday was not a good day. We woke up too early, everyone in the house was in a bad mood, I swear if Motherhood was real job I would have quit that morning. Seriously, the morning was awful.

I went to the gym, not really wanting to be there, but knowing full well that I'd walk out of my house and never come back if I stayed home.

I go to sign into the women's area and someone had written, "Today is a great day!" on the top of the page. It had hearts and sqigglies all around it.
For whatever reason, it made something snap- in a good way. I worked out with renewed gusto. I forced myself to repeat those words over and over again all day long. Whenever I felt overwhelmed, whenever I wanted to give up, whenever the Boy whined or cried for no reason...I said those words.

Today is a great day.

So my wish for you is to remember: Today is a great day!

Today is a great day! Happy blog birthday! If I'd known, I would have baked.

Hope your wrist gets fixed soon. It's so sad that it's impacting your knitting. Hang in there.

Yes, today is a great day! :) Are you feeling any better yet from all of your infections? I hope you're recovering well and feeling less tired. Sorry about your wrist hurting, though.

What a wonderful thing to spark your day in the right place. I had a patron the other day tell me "I was out to dinner with friends the other night and everyone mentioned how nice it is to call and order tickets, because of you" It made my week (and it had been a long one)

Happy Blogiversary! Sometimes all it takes is seeing something as simple as "Today Is A Great Day" to help turn things around. Sorry you've been so sick and I hope your wrist feels better real soon. It stinks not being able to knit.

I hope the antibiiotics kick in soon. for now, you may be tired because you've been fighting these infections for longer than you know. Sinuses in particular can "stealth-infect" andyou don't evenknow about it until it hits critical mass. Take care of yourself, get sleep etc. Easy to say, eh?

If, after the infections are cleared up and you haven't already done it, get a thyroid test.

As for the "it's a great day" I would have snapped too, just not in a good way. I am sooo not a morning person.

Happy blogiversary!

Your story reminds me of the posters I've seen around my neighborhood lately: "Don't forget to smile!" I hope you feel better soon!

Isn't it funny how the smallest things can totally change your mood/perspective? Sorry to hear about your wrist - Is it possible to knit with wrist braces? They might take some of the pressure off of your wrists so it doesn't hurt as badly to cheat. Wishing you well!

Happy blogiversary! It's hard to reconcile "great day" and "Monday", but I'll give it a shot... :)

Sometimes it's the little things that magically appear in your pathway that can make a difference.
Hope your wrist finds a way to recover in the least invasive manner.

happy blogiversary! hope your wrist recovers in the long run. lately work and other things have been crowding out my knitting (and blogging) time. while i haven't gotten to the dusting yet, i think i have recovered a bit of balance. it would be so easy to knit 24/7! but the reminder of other things i like to do was good.

Happy Blogiversary!

Wrist issues suck. I struggled to learn to knit for about 24 years (well, off and on, not the whole time). Then when the knitting finally clicked, my wrist went nuts. Docs weren't sure what the issue was so they called it carpal tunnel, but the test said other wise. Physical therapy didn't help. I went to a chiropractor for a stiff, painful neck and shoulder, and he got that under control. Along the way, my wrist got better, too. The issue started up in my neck/shoulder and traveled down my whole arm. I've learned that any time I have a structural problem with my body, I tell the chiropractor, he does his hokey pokey on me and Iget better. Fast. And no drugs or surgery.

I hope your wrist gets better.

"If motherhood was a real job..." we'd get coffee breaks, health insurance, a paycheck, and respect!

Let me tell you, Motherhood is the most "real" job of all. You get no training, no vacation, no sick days, and, as you pointed out, you can't ever quit. Compared to that, every other job I've ever worked has been a picnic.

I agree with boogeymanswife - dusting is VERY bad for sore wrists! Give it up immediately!! LOL!!
Seriously though, I have the same problem with my wrists and it is NOT carpal tunnel. Taking glucosamine with MSM (or using the cream) helps a lot, so does Turmeric (yup, the spice) in capsules. I also learned to knit continental-style which meant I didn't have to give up knitting altogether. Taking a break from knitting to spin also helps (if you're a spinner). I can't crochet any more at all.
Anyways... Happy Blogiversary!!! I enjoy reading you even if I don't comment much. Hop over to my blog sometime .... Chronicles of the Lazy Knitter at http://purlsunravelled.name
For some technical reason I can't link it to my Google ID - VERY annoying!
