Change Starts with Me.

One of the things I love most about Hubs is the way he objectively views the world. I tend to let out-of-my-control things bother me more than he does, (perhaps its a gender thing?) he tends not to get overemotional about the little things in life. For me, other people's pain triggers something in me. For Hubs, its just a learning experience for the person going through the pain. Not that he's callus about it, but he thinks that there's nothing that he can do, so why let it bother him.

Hubs doesn't really get bent out of shape for many things. But when he brought up a story that he read online, about a group of people protesting at a US soldier's funeral, the subsequent trial and retrial of the group's leader and the court's decision, I could tell that he really wanted to load up the can of whoop-ass on this "church" and go to town. To tell you the truth, I didn't believe that it was real, but after doing some research online, it is.

Despicable.

I'm all for freedom of speech. I'm all for freedom of religion. But I'm against hate. Yes, this group is protected by the constitution. We all are. But there's constitutional and there's doing what's respectful and right. This group is neither respectful nor right.

I can't stop them, but I can show support to our service men and women overseas. I signed up to adopt a service person over the weekend and I'm already in touch with him. It's a quick and painless process.

I went to www.adoptaussoldier.org and filled out the info needed. They verified my email address and within 48 hours I had the email address and snail mail address of my adoptee, along with some general personal info about him.

I can get as involved as I want to be- I can email him, send him mail or care packages.

I am totally pumped to do this.

I can't change the actions of others, but I can change my actions.

Anyone else interested in signing up??
